Julie Koch

  Julie (Wlotzko) Koch

    Class Year: 2008
    Major: Early Childhood Education
Household: Mary Spouse of the Spirit
Current Job Position: 1st Grade Teacher at St. Margaret of York in Loveland, Ohio

Julie graduated in 2008 with a degree in Early Childhood Education, was a member of Mary Spouse of Spirit household and participated in multiple mission trips, notably an education mission trip to North Dakota. While on campus, she took her music into the public schools working with emotionally disabled students and playing guitar with them.

  • Julie is starting her 13th year of teaching! She taught 3rd grade for 4 years and has been teaching 1st grade for the last 9 years at St. Margaret of York in Loveland, Ohio. She is a passionate and dedicated teacher who was inspired by experiences and professors at Franciscan.
  • Dr. McVey was the most influential professor she had at Franciscan because of her passion about education and love of literacy. From the formation in her education classes, Julie wanted to give the gift of literacy to young students so they could be successful readers. She has since been trained in additional early childhood reading skills to help lower level readers and develop the reading skills of young students.
  • Her greatest joy of teaching is being a spiritual mother to her students. From the minute she receives her class lists, she prays for her students every day. “I love discipling them and helping them to love the saints and show them how they can emulate saints in the world.” Julie created a daily “Saint Follower of the Day” where the students learn about a saint each day and whoever she spots emulating the saint receives a peg doll of that saint on their desk the following the day.

We are thankful for all passionate teachers this month as school is back in session, and pray for all our teachers! Thank you Julie for being a gift to your students.
